The average gross salary in Dubai is roughly AED 15,234 per month (AED 182,808 a year) for workers in regular households. But the average is misleading: the median worker in that same group earns AED 8,926 a month, and across the entire UAE workforce — including construction and domestic workers — the median falls to about AED 3,662.

Why does the average salary in Dubai have three different answers?
Almost every figure you will find online describes a different population, which is why published answers range from AED 3,600 to AED 20,000 a month. There are three honest answers:

The UAE Labour Force Survey reports a median of about AED 10,000 and a mean near AED 16,000. Wage Protection System data, which covers registered private-sector workers, shows more than 60% of the workforce earning under AED 5,000 a month. Both are true. Household surveys do not reach labour camps and collective housing, where much of the low-wage workforce lives.
